Day 1 in the Sandbox

It’s about 3AM here. Luckily I don’t have to start work tomorrow, so I can adjust to the time change. It is extremely hot, about 110 F when I got off the plane. The air also tastes kind of like burning oil. Just stand in front of your car exhaust for a while, and that’s exactly what it feels like in Kuwait.
The new apartments they have for us are really nice. Definitely a sweet setup. Right next door is the “Chicken King” where I ate my first meal in Kuwait. An entire rotisserie chicken, flatbread, hummus, and yogurt all for $5. Not a bad deal.
More details to come. I need to try and get some more sleep. It looks like initially we will be working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week! Better rest up…

3 AM and still awake !!! Such a night owl. I am looking forward to hearing all about the shopping expedition on the first day, it might be the only one you have for a long time given the 84 hour work week that you are about to start!! Do they furnish face masks for the burning oil air?? Oh well – when you are really busy the time goes really fast!! Thank goodness for technology – Skype, internet, web pages, air conditioning !!! We miss you – -

Dude you're living the life, well done. A month at the Pole then travelling until you run out of money. I love people who think and live "outside the box" of society's boring conventions. You only live once and you're making the most of it. I too live outside of the box. I have power stilts, I dress up in Stormtrooper and Ghostbuster costumes, I trek around the Yucatan for holidays, I fly on B17 bombers, and now I'm learning to Pole dance ;o) Why be normal!
